CHALLENGE

We had permission to envision the future.

Since 2014 that Gulbenkian Science was using the same layout for its annual report so we were invited to reimagine the new graphic world it could inhabit.

STRATEGY

Focus on details and micro-manage each illustration.

We wanted to focus on small details and develop a graphic structure that could communicate the precise nature of the investigation that Gulbenkian Science devotes its resources to.

The tonalities and icons developed to embellish the various layouts were a combined effort of design and science.

RESULTS

Sharp and simple iconography allows for clear communication.

The choice of simple and clear illustrations and reworking scientific photography, allowed us to be straightforward on the massage to communicate.

Sharp edges on duotone illustrations focused the reader's attention and guided the layout organically.
